FC Koln vs SV Darmstadt 98 Betting Tips and Predictions

FC Koln made a seldom comeback win in their 3-2 victory against Mainz 05 last weekend, the first time Koln have overturned a two-goal deficit under current coach Peter Stoger. These vital three points were enough to push Koln six points clear of the relegation zone and one point within the fabled 40-point “safe” bracket. With only four matches remaining in the Bundesliga season, even a point against SV Darmstadt may be enough to take any remaining relegation concerns away.

Darmstadt are unbeaten in six matches in the league (W2 D4) after back-to-back wins against Hamburger SV and FC Ingolstadt. Last weekend’s 2-0 win over Ingolstadt moved Darmstadt up to 11th place in the Bundesliga, but only four points clear on the relegation zone. Darmstadt’s coach Dirk Schuster will be keen for his side to build on their current four-point cushion on the bottom three at Köln, with tricky games against Eintracht Frankfurt, Hertha Berlin and Borussia Mönchengladbach still to come.

FC Koln will be hoping to get back on track after a run of four straight home defeats, admittedly against stronger sides such as Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke 04. SV Darmstadt, however, are currently the more in-form side being unbeaten in six and striker Sandro Wagner (pictured above) has been in notably impressive form, being involved in a goal in each of his last five matches (four goals one assist). Only Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski (12) and Werder Bremen’s Claudio Pizarro (11) have scored more goals in the top flight since it recommenced after the winter break. Darmstadt, however, have the fourth best away record in the Bundesliga, having won six and drawn five from fifteen away matches. With 73% of Darmstadt’s away matches ending in a win or draw, we find top value in SV Darmstadt double chance and expect a result of 1-1 draw at 11/2 to be a likely outcome.
