FC Volendam vs FC Dordrecht Predictions

After three straight league defeats, Friday night’s 1-1 draw at MVV definitely represented a step back in the right direction for Volendam, however the result brought no literal movement for Palingboeren in the Eerste Divisie standings. Hans De Koning’s side appear detached from the Play-offs with seven games to go, but a win over Dordrecht this Monday evening may well keep hopes of a top nine finish alive.

A Marco Tol strike earned Volendam a decent point at MVV on match day 31, but a draw wasn’t quite what Palingboeren were wishing for as they seek to get back into the Play-off race.

It’s now no win in seven matches for Hans De Koning’s side who are seven points adrift of the top nine in 15th, and the chances of Volendam being involved at the end of the regular season appear slim at best.

Nonetheless, they do have a pretty favourable run of fixtures from here on in, beginning on Monday with a home clash against Dordrecht who they beat 1-2 at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion earlier this term.

After a miserable 8-1 thrashing at the hands of FC Eindhoven on match day 30, Dordrecht showed definite improvement on Friday evening however they still came up short in a 1-3 home defeat to 3rd placed Go Ahead Eagles.

Following a gradual upturn in results under Claudio Braga since the Portuguese’s appointment in January, events of the last few days have clearly shattered confidence and momentum in the Schappenkoppen camp and they are unlikely to cope well with this quick turnaround.

The visitors have lost nine of their 15 away matches this season which is enough for any backers to avoid Dordrecht in this one, and we think that Volendam can give themselves a much needed shot in the arm.

Palingboeren’s recent lack of victories is an obvious concern and they have been pretty inconsistent at Kras Stadion this term with six wins, five draws and four defeats from 15 games, however they have amassed ten points at home from their other four matches against teams in the bottom five.

That suggests that they should have too much for Dordrecht in this one and we feel that the hosts are worthy of a two point stake. Friday’s point at De Geusselt should propel them onto better things in the weeks ahead and we can see this being a comfortable 3-1 triumph.
