FCSB in turmoil ahead of Hammers game

FCSB have no permanent coach ahead of Thursday’s dead rubber finale against 100 per centers West Ham in the Europa Conference League.

Nicolae Dica resigned on Monday following their 2-1 league loss at Universitatea Cluj which leaves the Red and Blues outside the top six in Romania’s top flight. It looks like they will go into Thursday’s game with his replacement still to be decided, which makes things tougher in a way for the Hammers.

FCSB had seemingly given up on this competition after taking only one point from the first three games and fielded a weakened line-up for their 5-0 home hammering by Silkeborg on matchday four. But they then pulled out a creditable 2-2 draw from their trip to Brussels that followed, albeit again with key forwards rested.

West Ham can maintain 100 per cent record

There’s no onus on David Moyes to play a first-string side either as West Ham have won the group and will avoid going into the play-off round in February. They will want to get back to winning ways after Sunday’s setback at Old Trafford, but should get the job done even with plenty of changes.

West Ham to win with three or more goals in the game could prove a profitable way in here as that has already landed in three of their five group games while FCSB have lost in similar fashion in three of their five too. A 2-1 West Ham win is forecast because of the potential for FCSB to raise their game in the wake of the coach’s resignation, but West Ham’s superior quality, fitness and freshness will be enough to overcome that.
