Fenerbahce vs Goztepe Predictions

Fenerbahce moved out of the relegation zone thanks to a 3-2 win over high flying Yeni Malatyaspor on Monday night, and they are back at home on Friday night where they take on mid table side Goztepe. The visitors sit just two points and two places above Fenerbahce in the Super Lig table, so were expecting a close and competitive ninety minutes in Istanbul.

New singing Victor Moses took his place on the Fenerbahce bench on Monday, where a second minute goal from Ekici handed the hosts an early lead. The visitors equalised in the twenty-eighth minute through Mina, but Ekici netted his brace three minutes later to restore Fenerbahce’s lead. The teams went in level at the break much to the disappointment of the home fans, due to Donald scoring for Yeni Malatyaspor in the fourth minute of first half stoppage time. Ekici was presented with a golden opportunity to take home the match ball but failed to convert a sixty-fourth minute penalty, and Victor Moses was introduced into the game in the sixty-sixth minute. Topal won the game for the home side in the eighty-first minute, and that result lifted the Turkish giants out of the drop zone.

Goztepe were at home to title contenders Galatasaray on Saturday, where a tight and tense ninety minutes was settled by a solitary second half strike. Goztepe held their own against the favourites and the teams went in level at the break, despite Galatasaray having more of the possession and chances. Costa Rican international Borges could, and should, have put the hosts in front from the penalty spot in the fifty-seven minute, but the midfielder fluffed his lines from twelve yards. That miss turned out to be very costly as Gümüş scored the games only goal in the seventy-second minute to hand Galatasaray all three points.

We’re expecting goals at both ends of the pitch when Fenerbahce play host to Goztepe on Friday, as three of their last five encounters have seen both team score and the two clubs have performed to a very similar level so far this season. Fenerbahce have only managed to keep one clean sheet in their last six matches and Goztepe have only failed to score in one of their last six matches. The form of both teams has been inconsistent of late, which suggests we could see the two clubs cancel each other out on Friday and the game end all square.

Ayew remains the hosts top scorer in the Super Lig this season with just four goals to his name, while Öztekin has seven for the visitors. Cameron Jerome plies his trade with Goztepe these days and the 32-year old has chipped in with three league goals so far this season. We’re confident that both teams will score on Friday as Fenerbahce have not been anywhere near their best this season and their defensive record has been extremely poor for a club that usually challenges for the title. Goztepe are a solid mid table side and we believe that will show tomorrow as both teams score and the games ends in a 1-1 draw.
