Fenerbahce vs Zorya Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Fenerbahce’s excellent form continued on Sunday as they beat arch rivals Galatasaray 2-0 at home to make it five wins on the bounce in all competitions. Their last defeat was the 4-1 humiliation at Old Trafford, but they have since taken revenge on Manchester United with a 2-1 win at home.

However, spells of poor form earlier in the season leave them 3rd in the Turkish Super Lig with a six point deficit on leaders Besiktas. They do now lead Galatasaray after the weekend’s victory though.

It was Robin van Persie who stole the show on Sunday as he scored both goals, taking his tally to six league goals in nine appearances. He has also added one more in the Europa League, and four of them have come on home turf. He looks the obvious choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions on Thursday.

Judging by Fenerbahce’s recent home performances he should get a fair few chances. They have won five and drawn one of their last six games, scoring at least two goals in four of them and putting five past Karabukspor at the end of last month.

Zorya, meanwhile, are struggling along in the Ukrainian Premier League. Their 2-1 defeat at home to Oleksandria on Saturday made it three defeats, two draws, and just two wins in their last seven outings in all competitions. This leaves them rock bottom of their Europa League group with two points and 3rd in the Premier League, 11 points adrift of Shakhtar Donetsk.

Away from home the troubles really do mount up. They have lost five of their last eight away days and won two. This isn’t the best of situations to be in when facing the group leaders and in desperate need of a win to stand any chance of making it to the knockout stages.

Defensively the visitors have looked rather good both home and away. They have only conceded four goals in their four group matches and have lost both of their away days 1-0. In fact, 11 of Zorya’s last 12 away games have resulted in fewer than three goals. Fenerbahce have only seen high scoring games in three of their last seven at home as well, so a low scoring game could well be on the cards here.

Backing Under 2.5 Goals at 19/20 looks a very good choice here, so that’s what I’m going for along with a 2-0 win for Fenerbahce for our correct score predictions at 5/1.
