FK Gorodeya vs Dinamo Minsk Predictions

  • Dinamo Minsk have won just two of their last 12 matches in the Belarus Premier League.
  • Gorodeya have avoided defeat in 63% of their home league games since the start of last season.
  • Three of Dinamo Minsk’s last six away games in the top flight have ended as draws, including two 1-1 stalemates.

Gorodeya breathe sigh of relief

A second half goal from midfielder Lazar Sajcic helped Gorodeya to their first points of the 2020 Belarus Premier League campaign last weekend, with the Serbian also being the first player to score for last season’s 7th placed side this term.

The relief of the Gorodeya players was evident, especially after their rocky climax to last season saw them enter that trip to Belshina on the back of a four match losing streak in the league.

Early signs suggest that Gorodeya don’t have the quality to challenge for European qualification this season, but they will hope to continue progressing after achieving their highest ever finish last term. Incredibly, Gorodeya finished 9th in each of their three top flight seasons before the 2019 instalment.

Dinamo Minsk on the decline

Dinamo Minsk are clearly the more established team, but they didn’t have the best of times last season as a torrid end to the campaign saw them miss out on the Premier League top three for the first time since 2011.

Similarly to Gorodeya, that rough end to last year seeped over to the new season, with defeats to Rukh Brest and rivals Minsk leaving them pointless after two games. Mirroring their opponents, they also broke that barrier last weekend with victory over Torpedo Zhodino, but it’s certainly not the start they were hoping for.

Underdogs aim for upset at the Gorodeya Stadium

Dinamo Minsk are the favoured side heading into this clash but, with just two wins from their last 12 league matches, we’re not as confident in their chances. They haven’t won any of their last six away games in the top flight, and considering Gorodeya have avoided defeat in 63% of their home games since the start of last season we think a Gorodeya win or draw double chance is a good value offering.

In the end, we’re expecting a stalemate on Saturday. Three of Dinamo Minsk’s last six away games have ended all square, and three of their last 12 in the league have ended in 1-1 draws, so a repeat of that scoreline looks a good option in the correct score market.
