Fleetwood Town vs Leeds Predictions
Fleetwood started their league season off with a 1-1 draw at Northampton on Saturday. Fleetwood’s new keeper Chris Neal scored an own goal to give Northampton the lead. However, shortly after the 2nd half started Victor Nirennold scored to level proceedings.
Leeds’ result would suggest they got smashed by QPR at Loftus Road on the weekend. They lost 3-0 in London. Despite the score complimenting QPR on paper, it was not a game which should have seen either team win by 3 goals. However, an early goal for Nedum Onuoha after 4 mins gave QPR a crucial lead against Garry Monk’s side. It was a fairly even game until the final 15 mins when QPR went 2-0 up. Then late on, a 3rd goal sealed a good win for The Hoops.
New signings Michael Duckworth and Ricardo Kip will want to stamp their authority on this Fleetwood squad sooner rather than later and will hope for starts in this game against Leeds. Duckworth came off the bench on the weekend to make his debut, as did Aaron Amadi-Holloway.
A couple of Leeds’ new signings have made appearances in The Championship. Right winger Kemar Roofe started for Leeds, with another new signing in Marcus Antonsson starting in the bench. The new striker came on for the remaining 30 mins. He was unable to give an overly good account of himself as Leeds had restricted chances in front of goal. Robert Green and Matt Grimes were also new signings and played on the weekend. Billy Whitehouse did not feature but will hope his new manager will put faith in him in this League Cup tie so he can prove his worth.
Fleetwood have played 1, drawn 1, scored 1 and conceded 1. Leeds have played 1, lost 1, scored 0 and conceded 3.
Despite the bad result for Leeds on Saturday Garry Monk and his staff know this competition very well. They know they will have to respect Fleetwood coming from a lower division. We feel that by looking back at our stats and analysis that Leeds will nick this game. We predict Leeds will win 1-0 at 13/2 with bet365. We also feel there will be only the one goal in this match. Therefore, we are backing our 2nd betting tip of Under 2.5 Match Goals at 4/5 with bet365.
