Forest Green Rovers vs Crewe Predictions

With over half of the season remaining, there are plenty of twists and turns to come in League Two as sides kick on to try and win promotion, while others tail off and head towards the dreaded drop zone. This weekend sees two sides who have had contrasting fortunes so far as play-off contenders as Forest Green Rovers welcome struggling Crewe Alexandra to The New Lawn.

Forest Green Rovers could break into the top seven in League Two by building on their 2-1 win at Yeovil Town a few weeks ago, however their momentum was halted following the postponement of their clash with Mansfield last weekend. Home form has been an issue for Forest Green Rovers who have lost their last four games in all competitions at The New Lawn. It is an issue that has dogged them for the majority of the campaign and the 12 points they have earned in front of their own fans is only a win better than the worst record in the division. A major reason for their inability to secure the three points on home soil has been their lack of cutting edge up front and Rovers have only managed an average of just 0.9 goals per game at the The New Lawn in League Two so far this season.

Crewe Alexandra need a win to halt their slide towards the bottom of League Two following successive defeats in their last two matches. The Alex were never well fancied to be one of the stronger sides in the division but they will be nervously looking over their shoulder as the trap door out of the Football League looms large. If the Alex are to secure their survival for another season then they will have to improve on an away record which has seen them earn just five points on the road, a record which is only a point better than the worst in the division.

Given the form of these two sides going into this match, it is hard to make a case for an away win in this fixture. When you also consider just how poor Crewe have been on the road and the fact that Forest Green should be well rested following last weekend’s unexpected time off, then we think that backing a home win looks like the only way to go.
