Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce Predictions

Galatasaray have not won any of their last six league games, but they are unbeaten in 12 games at home, so they have had a lot of draws in the last few weeks. All those dropped points have been key and Galatasaray are now well off the pace in the Turkish Super Lig and are effectively playing for pride over the last few weeks of the season. Galatasaray’s head to head record in this fixture is good, with Wednesday’s hosts unbeaten in their last five home games against Fenerbahce, but that run could well come to an end this week.

With seven games to go, Fenerbahce remain in the hunt for the league title, with a battle with Besiktas likely to decide who lifts the trophy at the end of the season. A trip to one of the traditional powerhouses of Turkish football will be a stern test for Fener, especially as two of their better players – Lazar Markovic and Raul Meireles – are expected to miss out through injury. Fenerbahce have taken 11 points from the last 15 available and there is little room for slip-ups if they want to overhaul Besiktas’ three-point lead at the top of the table.

As six of the last seven meetings between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have resulted in under 2.5 goals, Wednesday’s clash might well be another tight and cagey affair. Under 2.5 goals at Evens with bet365 stands out as the top bet available, while the 11/2 on offer for a 1-1 draw looks juicy as well.
