Genk vs Eupen Predictions

Genk have taken advantage of Club Brugge’s slip up away at Standard Liege to take over at the top of the table thanks to their 5-1 away victory against mid-table Gent. This was a welcome boost after they suffered a disappointing 3-1 away loss in the Europa League to Sarpsborg.

Eupen have had a mixed start to their season, they sit 12th in the table with 10 points from their 10 games. They started off with 4 losses from 4 games so have picked themselves up recently recording 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses from their last 6 games. They will hope they can now push on up the table and hopefully achieve a top 6 finish this season.

After Club Brugge’s aforementioned loss at Standard Liege, Genk are now the league’s only unbeaten side with 8 wins and 2 draws from their 10 league games this season. They have been split with 4 wins and a draw at home and away. On home soil Genk are awesome, they have won 15 of their last 16 games in all competitions and have kept a clean sheet in their last 4 home wins. Their goal scoring is excellent too, they have netted 31 goals in 10 games this season at a rate of 3.1 per game. At home they have scored fewer, netting on 12 occasions in 5 games but they are still firing at 2.4 goals per game.

Eupen have been better away from home than they have at home this season. They have won 1 and lost 4 of their 5 home games but away from home they have picked up 2 wins a 1 draw from their first 5. They have scored 6 goals in their 5 away games at 1.20 goals per game but they concede too many. They have conceded 10 times in 5 games at a rate of 2 per game and against this Genk side that’s not going to be good enough to get a result.

Genk have been priced heavy odds on and that’s to be expected considering their home form and the quality of opposition they are facing here on Saturday. We think they will have no trouble beating a Eupen side who although are heading into this game unbeaten in 3 away, they leak too many goals and against a strike force as lethal as Genk’s they will struggle. Eupen have shown a bit of fight in their last few games and we do feel they could get a goal here but expect it to be solely a consolation. For that reason we are backing Genk to win and both teams to score. On the correct score market we shall also be backing a 3-1 Genk win.
