Hamilton Academical vs Ross County Predictions
Hamilton Academical have been slipping over the last few seasons, and last season they were dragged into a brief battle for the relegation playoff spot in the Scottish Premiership. They ended up finishing 10th in the table, three positions lower and ten points worse off than the season before.
This season probably isn’t going to go much better for them. They have lost key players such as Michael McGovern and Ziggy Gordon and don’t seem to have the funds to splash out on any suitable replacements. This makes them one of the favourite picks for relegation candidates in the Premiership.
Hamilton Academical did manage to top their Scottish League Cup group over Ayr United, St Mirren, Livingston, and Edinburgh City, but once the league campaign begun they confirmed their status as relegation candidates.
They managed to salvage a draw in their league opener when they visited the newly promoted Rangers, but they followed it up with a defeat at home to Greenock Morton in the League Cup and have since lost to Kilmarnock and drawn at Dundee.
Whilst their opponents were slipping last season, Ross County were in the process of improving on their finishing position. They ended last term in 6th position in the top flight after finishing 9th the season before, and they are looking for more improvement this ter
Ross County were surprisingly knocked out of the Scottish League Cup which they won last season as Alloa Athletic and Raith Rovers both finished ahead of them in the group stages, and it looked like it could be a difficult campaign for them as they started the league season off with a 3-1 loss at home to Dundee.
However, they bounced back fantastically to beat Inverness CT 3-2 away from home and made it two wins in a row last weekend when they comfortably dispatched of Kilmarnock.
These back to back wins will have given the visitors a much needed boost of confidence after their early Scottish League Cup exit. Another confidence booster will be the fact that Hamilton Academical have lost eight of their last 12 home games in the Scottish Premiership and won just once.
The visitors have by far the better squad and to me it looked like Hamilton Academical are struggling without McGovern and Gordon. I’m backing a Ross County 0.0 Asian Handicap Win at 1.675 along with a 2-1 correct score prediction at 8/1.
