Hamilton vs St Johnstone Predictions
- Stationed in the relegation play-off place with just 15 points from 19 games, Hamilton aren’t having a great season.
- With just 1 win from their last 12 matches, Hamilton have no momentum behind them,
- St Johnstone are hardly flying themselves down in 10th with 16 points, but they do have 2 games in hand on most of the sides around them.
- Having lost just 1 of their last 5 games, the visitors will be confident in securing a positive result on Thursday.
Hamilton are struggling
After finishing third bottom last season, it was always likely to be another tough campaign for Hamilton and so it is proving. With some of the smallest resources in the division, the hosts always face a fight to retain their top flight status and coming into this game in the relegation play off place with just 15 points from 19 games; it’s clear they are struggling.
Hamilton picked up a crucial 2-1 win over bottom side Hearts last time out but had been in terrible form prior to that, with it being their first victory in 12 attempts. The hosts will be hoping that the win can act as a springboard to further improvement but given how weak Hearts have been this season, it’s hard to take too much reason for encouragement from it.
St Johnstone hungry for positive result
Meanwhile, after finishing 7th last term, St Johnstone weren’t expected to struggle this season but their performances so far haven’t been the best. Indeed, the visitors are down in 10th and although they have two games in hand on the sides in and around them, the fact they’ve taken just 16 points from 17 games is a reason for disappointment.
Nonetheless, St Johnstone have improved of late and are starting to look a far more solid outfit. They’ve lost just 1 of their last 5 games and having kept a clean sheet in their last 3 outings; they’ve began to establish a strong defensive foundation that has them going into every game capable of securing a result.
St Johnstone have to be fancied
Ultimately, although neither side has covered themselves in glory this season; Hamilton are clearly a weaker outfit than St Johnstone. They are a point behind them despite having played two games more and on paper; the visitors have a bit more quality than them in all areas of the pitch.
All things considered, we like the look of backing the visitors on the Draw No Bet line this Thursday and feel it provides good value and current prices. St Johnstone have been showing signs of improvement of late and having won 8 of the last 10 meetings between the two, we think they’ll be able to grind out a narrow 1-0 win.
