Harrogate Town vs Port Vale Predictions
- Port Vale have only lost one of their last seven away matches
- Just one of Harrogate’s home wins has come against a side in the top half of League Two
- The Valiants have suffered only one away defeat to a team in the bottom half
Harrogate’s form misleading?
Harrogate lost 3-1 to Crawley in their last game, ending a run of three wins in four home matches, but each of those victories came against sides at the wrong end of the table.
The likes of Forest Green, Northampton and Salford, all teams in the promotion shake-up, have come to Wetherby Road and left with three points, showing they struggle against the top sides in the division.
Simon Weaver’s outfit do give themselves a real chance, scoring in five of their last six at home, but equally their defence is struggling, conceding 11 across their last five at all venues.
Port Vale pushing back up the table
Manager Darrell Clarke is currently on compassionate leave, but his Port Vale are doing him proud as they are now unbeaten in eight, meaning they sit just three points outside the play-offs with games in hand.
They have drawn three of their last four on the road and only been beaten four times in 15 league games, picking up six victories in the process.
Their only away defeat to a team in the bottom half of League Two came at Oldham in November, while they have registered victories against the likes of Forest Green and Swindon.
Port Vale are in good form, so I think they will win this one, but it could be a close match. I predict 2-1 as a correct score.
