Reason For Hearts vs Celtic Predictions

  • Hearts have kept a clean sheet just once in their eight matches at Tynecastle.
  • Celtic have conceded at least one goal in three of their last four away games.
  • The Jambos have scored at least one goal in three of their last four home ties.
  • The Hoops have scored an impressive eight goals in their last couple of away ties, netting an average of 2.43 goals this season.

Woeful Jambos continue to struggle

Despite finally appointing a manager in Daniel Stendel, Hearts suffered their fourth defeat in five games over the weekend, as they were beaten 1-0 by then bottom-placed St Johnstone. In spite of their woes, the Jambos have done relatively well at home, picking up five points from their last five games.

The Edinburgh club have also struggled to keep clean sheets at home, as they have only done so once in their eight games at Tynecastle. However, the Gorgie outfit have also netted the same amount as they’ve conceded – 11 goals – although they’ve scored six of them in their last trio of fixtures, conceding just four times in those matches.

Celtic in fine form

Celtic recorded their 14th win of the Premiership season on Sunday, beating Hibs 2-0 at Celtic Park, and extended their winning streak to an impressive eight matches. The Hoops have done particularly well on the road in recent weeks, winning 4-0 and 4-1 in their two games since losing to Livingston.

The Hoops have also scored an impressive average of 2.43 goals on their travels, netting eight times in their previous two away games and failing to score in just one of their seven away ties. But Neil Lennon’s side have also conceded at least once in three of their last four, casting doubt over their defensive performances.

Goalfest on the cards

Hearts will play for the first time at Tynecastle since the appointment of Stendel, but it’s hard to see the hosts causing a shock to the league leaders. We feel ‘both teams to score’ is a good market to look at here, as 63% of Hearts home games have seen that happen, as well as two of Celtic’s last four away days.

Moreover, the Hoops have conceded in three of their last four away games but have racked up an impressive nine goals in those matches, which is why we’re also backing a final score of 3-1 to the visitors.
