      Hibernian vs Arbroath Predictions

Arbroath will travel to Edinburgh on Tuesday where they’ll be hosted by Hibs at Easter Road. Can the hosts continue their fine form?

Hibs come into this on the back of a undefeated streak that the team has extended to 4 games. After a poor end to the Premiership season, and despite his fantastic start, Paul Heckingbottom now begins his first full season at the Edinburgh club. Before the League Cup got started, Hibs played in a trio of friendlies: a 3-2 defeat to Arbroath, which was then followed by a 3-1 win at Dunfermline and a thrilling 4-3 victory at Carlisle United.

The Hibees comfortably beat Alloa Athletic in their most recent outing. The final score was 2-0, thank to goals from new signings Christian Doidge and Thomas James. Prior to this game, Hibs had drawn 1-1 with Stirling Albion, and despite not being able to get all 3 points the club still managed to win the bonus point after winning the penalty shoot-out, although they are still in 3rd position.

Arbroath also come into this game in some decent form, and the Red Lichties will be eager for a repeat performance from earlier on in the month when they hosted Hibs in a friendly. Dick Campbell’s side have also just come from demolishing Stirling Albion 6-1 in a win that has allowed them to top their League Cup group.

David Gold scored within the first minute of the game, with Michael McKenna doubling his side’s lead after half an hour. Stirling would pull one back a couple of minutes into the second-half, only for Gold to double his tally 10 minutes later. Arbroath then took full control of the game by scoring a further 3 goals in the last 8 minutes.

The Red Lichties will come up against their strongest opponents yet, with the game possibly deciding who gets to top the group. Hibs have hit the ground running ever since their initial loss to Arbroath in their first friendly of the season. We’re going to back Heckingbottom’s side to take all 3 points with a win here and both teams to score, with a final score of 3-1.
