Hull vs Bristol City Betting Tips & Predictions

Hull’s automatic promotion bid that looked highly likely to be a successful one has imploded in recent weeks. Perhaps the demands of playing several cup ties and a busy fixture list has played its part but it’s just 1 win in 9 matches for the Tigers and they haven’t won any of their last 6 games. Their last gasp defeat at fellow promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough last time out was a particularly bitter blow and there will have been plenty of soul-searching on Humberside over the past fortnight. The Tigers are now 9 points behind leaders Burnley and must view this as a ‘must win’ game if they are to really stay in the hunt for a top two finish.

It won’t be easy though as while Hull have been on their worst run of the season, Bristol City have been on their best one. They have won 6 of their last 9 Championship games and although there have been some heavy defeats in there too, they appear to have done enough to put themselves in a position to survive. Their 6-0 win over troubled Bolton last time out leaves them 6 points above the drop-zone with 8 games to play.

Bristol City have got some results against the top sides too. They’ve beaten Middlesbrough twice and held Hull to a draw earlier in the campaign. Hull’s main problem has been scoring goals and they’ve only managed to score 3 times in their last 9 matches but they’ve remained quite tight at the back. All of their last 10 Championship games have had under 2.5 goals and Bristol City are unlikely to be too adventurous here so consider backing Under 2.5 goals at 4/6.
