Inter Milan vs Crotone Predictions

This has been quite the week for these two clubs. Inter Milan sacked their manager Frank De Boer, a move which looked inevitable. It’s fair to say it had been coming, some Italian papers even claimed that the coach had been sacked weeks ago, but they just hadn’t got round to telling him.

They’re now searching for a third manager in four months, while they were left bottom of their Europa League group in midweek. They lost 2-1 at Southampton, which leaves them in danger of exiting Europe early. Things looked bad for them when they sacked Roberto Mancini in August, but their season is just getting ridiculous now. There’s even talk of not hiring a manager that’s too good, in case it squanders their chances of appointing Diego Simeone down the line.

However, in more positive news, Crotone managed to claim a first ever win in Serie A with a 2-0 victory over Chievo last weekend. Unfortunately, that’s still left them bottom. The struggling side are now just two points from safety. Can they take advantage of the chaos at Inter and move out of the bottom three this weekend?

It’s obviously unlikely, as you can see by Inter’s pre-match odds. The decision to sack De Boer two games before the international break may have seemed odd, but it makes sense when you look at this fixture. It’s widely expected that the hosts will win it, and you can’t get rid of the boss on the back of a victory.

There’s no guarantee that Inter will win this one, even with a new man in the dugout. They have a horrible defensive record at the San Siro. They’ve conceded in 100% of their home games this season in Serie A. They have no clean sheet in their last six in the league, while their only league clean sheet came against misfiring Empoli. Their attack is so bad that Crotone have scored five times as many goals as they have.

Inter have conceded more than they’ve scored so far. They now face a side who will be buzzing after their first ever win in the top flight. They have more than just that victory going for them. Serie A’s bottom side have scored in their last six, while they’ve found the net in 67% of their matches this season. Their last away game saw them become the first side to score at Fiorentina this term, and they claimed a 1-1 draw there.

Since both teams have scored in 100% of Inter’s home games, and 73% of Crotone’s matches overall, we’re backing both to score here. That’s priced at 19/20, and it looks well worth it when you consider how poor the hosts have been this year.
