Inter Milan vs Hapoel Beer Sheva Predictions

Inter Milan secured their highest finish in Serie A since the 2010/11 season last year as they continued their resurgence after a five year period of decline. They finished 4th in the table behind Juventus, Napoli, and Roma and qualified automatically for the Europa League group stages.

Their start to the new season hasn’t gone entirely to plan though. They opened the campaign with a 2-0 loss at Chievo and followed it with a 1-1 draw at home to Palermo. They finally got their first win of the season with a 2-1 win over Pescara on Sunday, but it’s a disappointing start considering the cash they’ve shelled out this summer.

Inter Milan have brought in a trio of wingers in Joao Mario, Gabriel, and Antonio Candreva for a combined total of nearly £80 million as well as striker Stevan Jovetic and left back Dodo for another £19 million. All the while they have managed to keep hold of their key players, despite rumours that key striker Mauro Icardi was on his way out. They will be happy to have kept the star man as well, as so far this season he has been the only player to find the net for Inter Milan.

Hapoel Be’er Sheva have had an excellent season in Europe so far. They made it all the way to the Champions League playoffs in their debut season in the competition, as they beat Sheriff and Olympiakos. They weren’t far off a spectacular comeback in the playoffs against Celtic either. They lost the away leg 5-2 to the Scottish Champions but managed to pull two goals back at home, but they couldn’t find a 3rd goal and ended up losing 5-4 on aggregate.

This still granted them a spot in the Europa League group stages for their first time ever though, and now they will be looking to outperform Inter Milan, Southampton, and Sparta Prague.

Hapoel Be’er Sheva’s season has started in very good fashion as they beat Hapoel Ra’anana and Bnei Sakhnin either side of a draw at Hapoel Tel Aviv. This puts them top of the table after three matches, as they look to successfully defend their league title.

Despite their good start to the season I can’t see them doing well on Thursday. They already lost 5-2 away from home against Celtic and Inter Milan are a more talented side than the Scottish champions as well. The visitors may try to shut up shop, but the fact that they scored two goals away against Celtic indicates that they like to play an attacking brand of football.

This is further illustrated by the fact that four of their last six games have seen at least three goals, so I’m backing an Inter Milan Win and Over 2.5 Goals at 5/6 along with a 3-1 correct score prediction at 10/1
