Ipswich vs Reading Predictions
The bookies, along with many others, have been underestimating Reading all season you sense. They come into this game in 3rd place and they are closing the gap on the top two. Up against an Ipswich side who have put in several abject displays already in 2017, they look well capable of wining this and with the bookies unable to split them in the win market, the value certainly looks like it is with the visitors.
Jaap Stam has done an outstanding job with this Reading side and they are just in that very useful habit of nicking matches by the odd goal. 7 of their last 8 wins have been by single goal margins, including a key 1-0 win at Birmingham in midweek. That is testament to the character of this side, who have responded well to a brief wobble at the start of last month when they lost 3 games in a row. They’ve won 50% of their Championship away games this season and have only failed to score in 17% of their league games.
Ipswich by contrast have drawn blanks in a massive 45% of their games. It hasn’t been a good week for them with Mick McCarthy missing out on some of his targets on deadline day, which ended with a 3-0 home defeat against Derby. They’ve only won 1 of their 7 matches in all competitions this month, which isn’t great when you consider two of those matches were against non-league Lincoln.
All things considered it just doesn’t seem like a particularly happy camp right now and things seem to have gone a bit stale under McCarthy, who is one of the longest serving managers in English football. They have problems at both ends of the pitch right now, with a failure to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 13 games compounding their struggles for goals.
As a result backing high-flying Reading 0.0 Asian Handicap at 37/40 looks like it could be the way to go here.
