Juventus vs Pescara Predictions
Saturday night’s big game in Serie A has tended to be a huge crunch game in recent weeks. Lazio travelled to Napoli last time out, while Juventus played AC Milan late on Saturday a few weeks before. This time around, the late game is a complete mismatch. The league leaders and defending champions are hosting a struggling side who are desperately short of form or confidence.
Juventus are already four points clear at the top of the table, and they look set for a sixth straight Scudetto. Meanwhile, Pescara slipped into the bottom three two weeks back, and they’re expected to head straight back down to Serie B. The visitors broke their record transfer with the £3.4million capture of Valerio Verre in the summer. Meanwhile Juventus splashed out over £75million on their nearest rival’s 29-year-old centre forward. These two overate on very different levels.
Obviously, this isn’t a game which is going to have a big effect on Pescara’s hopes of survival. That kind of game was their meeting with Empoli two weeks back, which they lost 4-0. In their last nine games, Empoli have scored in one match. Before their humbling of Pescara, they hadn’t scored in eight games. That’s the only way to get across how humiliating that defeat was for the Dolphins.
Losing that kind of six pointer does little for their hopes of surviving. However, their drop into the bottom three was coming for quite some time. They’d been buoyed by their win by default earlier this season. They were handed a 3-0 victory when Sassuolo fielded a player who hadn’t yet been registered. In truth, Pescara have yet to win a game this season.
That’s not a record you want to take to Juventus. The Italian champions have been rampant over the last year, winning 34 of their last 38 matches in the league. They’ve got a perfect record at Juventus Stadium this season, averaging 2.83 goals per game there. They’ve managed to score two or more goals in their last 10 home league games.
Pescara have scored just three goals all season away, which works out at 0.6 a match. Now they take on a tough Juve defence. The champions concede just 0.75 goals per game this season. They’re hardly going to add to that in their toughest away trip. There’s a huge gulf in class between these two, which should prove to be too much for the Dolphins. Seeing they were hammered 4-0 by Empoli, there could be a huge win on the cards here. That’s why we’re backing Juve on the -2 handicap at 11/10 with bet365.
