Levante vs Sevilla Predictions
Sevilla, who only lost once at home in all of last season were well beaten 3-0 at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan by Atletio in their last match to leave them with just 1 point and no goals from their opening 2 games. With most of their players away on International duty, coach Unai Emery will have had little time to work with his players and resolve some of their issues ahead of the trip to Levante and the fact that this is a Friday game will have given him even less time to work with his players.
With Champions League football to come next week, Sevilla will de desperate for a confidence restoring win here but it may not be that easy. They certainly are not playing at anywhere near the level they achieved last season when they finished 5th and won the Europa League.
There have been a few big departures including star striker Carlos Bacca and midfield warhorse Stéphane Mbia. They’ve brought in some good players too but it may just take a bit of time for it all to click into place.
Levante aren’t a great side but they have stubbornly held their own in this league for several years now and although this could be another season of struggle they are capable of frustrating Sevilla here and grinding out a result and you can back them to do that at 11/10, which represents good value given they are at home to a Sevilla that has been very poor so far.
Levante were reduced to 10 men inside 5 minutes on the opening day so we shouldn’t read too much into a 2-1 home defeat to Celta Vigo. Last time out they picked up a point at Las Palmas, which was a good result given it was the Gran Canaria team’s first home game back in the top flight after a long absence and they were actually quite firm favourites to win it.
The Valencia club don’t score a lot of goals but you could see them scoring at some point in the game against a Sevilla defence that isn’t the most reliable. However whether they are good enough to keep the door shut at the other end if they go ahead is doubtful and a 1-1 draw is a likely scoreline and can be backed at 11/2.
