Malaga vs Leganes Predictions

Leganes have caught a few teams by surprise in the early days of the new season in La Liga and only Real Madrid boast a better away record than them. The new boys have won 3 of their 4 away matches but have only collected 1 point at home. That may sound odd but they’ve had considerably easier opponents on the road so it’s not a massive surprise, although you wouldn’t have expected them to have done quite so well on their travels.

Realistically though it is still going to be a long season for Leganes. This match is considerably tougher than recent trips to Deportivo and Granada in which they were victorious. They take on a Malaga side that is just starting to warm up to life under Juande Ramos. The Andalusians have won their last 2 home matches and picked up a solid point at Alaves last time out so they come into this match in relatively good spirits.

They’ve been okay at the back, conceding 1.25 goals per game on average, but they’re yet to keep a clean sheet and have conceded exactly once in all of their last 5 matches so there is hope for Leganes to nick a goal here. Their success so far on the road might make them more inclined to be relatively positive here which could just suit Malaga’s more creative players.

Their new-look strike-force of Sandro Ramirez and Charles is also improving slowly and against a Leganes side that have let in 1.63 goals per game on average they should get enough chances in this match to help fire Malaga to 3 points. It’s likely to be close though, with Leganes looking competitive and all of Malaga’s games this term having been close, so backing Malaga to Win 2-1 at 8/1 looks to offer value in the correct score market.
