Malaga vs Rayo Vallecano Betting Tips & Predictions

Rayo picked up a huge win at the weekend when they beat Villarreal 2-1 at home. It has given them a 5 point cushion on the bottom 3 and they might need that given they have Madrid derbies against Real and Atletico immediately after this and they have a very poor record against both clubs. They will be hopeful of getting something here though especially given they’ve only lost 1 of their last 5 games and look to have become a bit tougher to beat. They’ve not won away since way back in September though so it’s hard to see them getting all 3 points here but they have drawn 5 of their last 7 on the road with their 2 defeats both by just a single goal.

Malaga aren’t the sort of side that will blow teams away with brilliant attacking play but they are a well-disciplined, well-organised unit so it is imperative that Rayo don’t make any defensive howlers here as it could be a lower scoring game than the ones they usually feature in. There have only been 5 goals in Malaga’s last 5 matches but they have taken 8 points from those games with their solitary defeat coming at the weekend at home to Athletic.

This will be a contrast of styles between the league’s most cautious side and perhaps its most attacking. Rayo have netted 15 more goals than Malaga but conceded 35 more so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top here. Malaga are clearly the favourites but they don’t have a great deal to play for whereas Rayo are really scrapping for their lives. Malaga have only won 2 of their last 7 home games and Rayo have lost just 2 of their last 7 away so backing Rayo Vallecano or Draw Double Chance at 10/11 really looks to offer value here.
