Manchester City vs Middlesbrough Predictions
The last week could prove a huge turning point in Manchester City’s season. They went into a potentially difficult clash at the Hawthorns last weekend and came away with a 4-0 win under their belts to end a dismal six match winless streak.
Midweek saw another level of result entirely as they recovered from a dodgy start at home to Barcelona to emphatically win 3-1, with Ilkay Gundogan getting his 3rd and 4th goals in as many days, after his brace against West Brom. Now, with very winnable matches against Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Burnley coming up they can start to pick up momentum.
Sergio Aguero got back on the score-sheet last weekend with a double against West Brom to take his Premier League tally to seven goals for the season, despite being suspended for a couple of them. Backing him to score anytime at 4/6 looks a very good option considering the form he’s in.
Middlesbrough, like their opponents, enjoyed a successful weekend last time out when they beat Bournemouth 2-0 at home. This ended an eight match winless streak across all competitions for the newly promoted side, but I doubt they will feel too confident heading into this game.
The visitors have lost five of their last nine in all competitions and haven’t won away from home since their triumph over Sunderland in August. They will undoubtedly look to shut up shop at the Etihad, but whether they can do it against a Manchester City side flying high on renewed confidence is another matter entirely.
Despite Manchester City’s woes for the last month or so, they remain unbeaten at the Etihad in all competitions this season and have won six of their eight games there. Four of their last six outings at home have seen them win by at least two goals and score themselves at least three times.
I’m expecting a confident performance from the reinvigorated Manchester City on Saturday, and odds of 2.000 for a Manchester City -2.0 Asian Handicap look good value, considering their performances so far this week. I’m going for that along with a 4-0 correct score prediction at 11/1.
