Manchester United vs Hull Predictions

Manchester United’s winning streak carried over into the FA Cup on Saturday as they completely dominated proceedings at Old Trafford against Reading. They eventually left with a 4-0 win under their belts, although in truth it could have been a lot worse for the visitors. This saw Wayne Rooney equal Sir Bobby Charlton’s scoring record for Manchester United and was followed by a goal from Anthony Martial and a brace from Marcus Rashford.

This makes it eight wins on the trot for the Red Devils in all competitions, and they are now unbeaten in their last 14 matches. This leaves them in the running for the Europa League, the FA Cup, and the League Cup as well as now being within three points of the top four in the Premier League.

At home Manchester United are unbeaten since the middle of September, with that 2-1 defeat to Manchester City being their only loss there this season. Since then they have won ten and drawn four of their 14 matches there, including wins in each of their last five. This doesn’t look good for the visitors, especially since West Ham’s League Cup visit to Old Trafford ended in a 4-1 loss.

Even worse for Hull is the fact that they played a very strong side in the quarter finals. The likes of David De Gea, Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney, and most importantly Zlatan Ibrahimovic were all present. It’s the latter who I’d back to get on the scoresheet though. Ibrahimovic was rested at the weekend and is set to start here, and he has bagged 17 goals in all competitions this season, including ten in his last ten appearances. Backing him to score anytime looks the best choice for our goalscorer predictions.

Hull did manage to break out of their ten match winless streak at the weekend with a 2-0 win over Swansea in the FA Cup, but they have still lost five of their last eight outings in all competitions and only booked their place in the semi finals thanks to an undeserved draw at home to Newcastle, going on to win the penalty shootout.

Away from home it’s even worse for them. They have lost six on the bounce on their travels and have only scored one goal during this period. They have conceded 12 at the other end, so keeping it defensively tight will be difficult, against a hosting side who have scored 14 times in their last five home matches.

Hull’s defence is a catastrophe away from home, and they have conceded at least three goals in five of their nine away games this season. Manchester United have scored three or more in five of their last seven and will be fielding a strong squad on Tuesday. The hosts will also be looking to kill the game off in order to take it easy in the second leg. This makes odds of 10/11 for Manchester United Over 2.5 Team Goals look good value, and I’m backing that along with a 3-0 correct score predictions at 5/1.
