Melbourne Victory vs Perth Glory Predictions
Melbourne Victory won the Hyundai A-League Premier title in the last few games of the regular season and then beating runners up Sydney FC in the playoff series to be crowned A-League Champions as well.
This season they started their defence of their titles with a draw at Adelaide United before beating cross-city rivals Melbourne City in a 3-2 thriller.
The reformed Newcastle Jets then handed them their first loss of the season, which they bounced back from in their 3-0 FFA Cup win over Hume City and then a 3-0 win over Wellington Phoenix in the league.
Their road to the FFA Cup Final has been pretty comfortable to be honest. They have beaten Balmain Tigers, Rockdale City Suns, Adelaide United, and Hume City. They have scored 15 goals in these four matches and only conceded three times.
Perth Glory had a fairly good season as far as performances went, picking up enough points to see them finish in 3rd position in the Hyundai A-League.
But trouble with administration saw their season take a turn for the worse. They were banned from entering the playoff series and given an automatic 7th placed finish in the Hyundai A-League after breaching their salary cap.
This led to a poor run of results in the league, and they haven’t started this season particularly well either.
They began their campaign with back to back losses against Central Coast Mariners and Wellington Phoenix and have since beaten Adelaide United before losing to Western Sydney Wanderers last weekend.
Their road to the FFA Cup final has been a bit more rocky than their opponents’. They have been taken beyond 90 minutes in three of their four cup matches, but to be fair they have faced A-League opposition three times compared to their opponents one top flight opposition meet up.
Perth Glory lost 1-0 to Adelaide United in the final of the FFA Cup last year, and I don’t think they’ll be able to lift the trophy this year either. Melbourne Victory are in much better form than them and I think odds of 1.700 for a Melbourne City -1 Asian Handicap Win offer a lot of value considering they have won their last two games 3-0.
