Millwall vs Walsall Predictions

Having knocked out Premier League opposition in the FA Cup on Sunday, Millwall will be riding high ahead of this one and are likely to be confident of continuing their good form. That’s the second time Neil Harris’ men have got the better of opposition who’re plying their trade in the top flight this season – an achievement that shouldn’t be overlooked.

In terms of League One, both of these two teams have been performing well of late, although it’s hard not to conclude that Millwall’s form is the healthier. With this in mind, at odds of 8/11, ‘Millwall to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ is the bet to go for here.

The Den has proven to be a very happy hunting ground for Millwall of late. The hosts have won each of their last five home matches in all competitions, including their last three in the league. Scoring goals has been no problem during this time, notching eight in their last three league fixtures at The Den, while they’ve scored 22 in front of a home crowd this season overall. In addition, scoring multiple goals in games at home has been something that’s come easy to Millwall this campaign – Harris’ men have scored at least twice on eight occasions.

Walsall might not be in bad form right now, but their defence is far from solid and, therefore, they’re likely to encounter problems against a confident-looking Millwall front-line. Having conceded 17 goals on the road this season, the visitors, despite keeping five clean sheets, have often defended poorly. Their match last time out against Bury (finished 3-3) is a fine example of this.

Some people could easily be of the opinion that Walsall are a decent defensive unit and, on their day, they can be; however, against some of the better attacking teams in this division they’ve not been as secure. Conceding at least twice against Rochdale and Fleetwood in recent weeks is testament to this.

Millwall will be in good spirits after their FA Cup travails at the weekend and are fancied to transfer that confidence into goals as they return to the normality of League One on Tuesday night.
