Mjondalen vs Viking Predictions

Mjondalen sit eight points and seven places behind Viking in the Eliteserien table and while their form in the NM Cupen has been impressive, the hosts are still struggling to win games in the league and currently occupy the relegation playoff position. Viking arrive hoping for a win and results elsewhere to go in their favour if they are to move into the top three this weekend, and with three wins in their last three away games the visitors will be confident of taking home all three points.

Mjondalen made the trip to Ranheim last weekend where a fifteenth-minute effort from Jansen handed the visitors the lead, albeit brief. Just before the hour mark Karlsen equalised for the hosts and the teams went in level at the break. Despite the best efforts of the Ranheim, who had 64% of the overall possession and fourteen shots during the ninety minutes, no more goals were scored and Mjondalen earned a decent point on the road.

Viking and Bodo Glimt produced a seven-goal thriller at the SR-Bank Arena last time out but the hosts were left with nothing to show for their efforts at the final whistle. Bodo Glimt established a two-goal lead inside the opening half an hour but Thorstvedt pulled a goal back for Viking shortly before the interval. The visitors extended their lead with a third goal five minutes into the second half and moved 4-1 up in the sixty-sixth minute. Sale made it 4-2 in the seventieth minute and Hove pulled another goal back in stoppage time for Viking, but the hosts lost the match 4-3.

The last encounter between these two clubs and the performances of both teams over the last month or so, suggests that a double chance bet on Viking is worth backing this weekend and that there is a good chance we will see both teams score. Viking won their last trip to Mjondalen 4-2 back in November. The visitors have only lost two of their last six matches in all competitions, while the hosts have failed to win any of their last three home games. Both teams scored in four of Mjondalen’s and five of Viking’s last six matches, which is why we’re backing a final score of 2-1 in favour of Viking.

Brochmann leads the way for Mjondalen this season with four league goals, while Thorstvedt top scores for Viking with six Eliteserien goals. We’re confident that a double chance bet on Viking will payout on Sunday and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1. The visitors head into the match as the form favourites and higher in the Eliteserien table, while their guests have been performing well in the cup their league form leaves much to be desired.
