New England Revolution vs New York Red Bulls Predictions
New England Revolution made it four games winless in the new MLS season on Saturday when they drew 1-1 at New York City, although the fact that they have only lost one game is a definite advantage despite their lack of winning spirit.
However, without victories it seems unlikely that New England Revolution will be able to better their 5th place finish in last season’s MLS Eastern Conference.
New York Red Bulls have played one fewer match than their hosts but have managed the same points tally. Unlike their opponents, New York Red Bulls have gone about collecting their points in a much more entertaining fashion.
They won 4-3 against Houston Dynamo last time out to pick up their first points of the season, following on from 2-0 and 3-0 defeats in the opening two MLS games. Their defensive injuries and transfers have left them wide open at the back, and they are trying to compensate for that with a single minded approach of attacking.
It shows as well. They have conceded eight goals in their opening three matches, and their four goal haul against Houston Dynamo showed that they have the capability to go back at teams.
But without a serious improvement in either attack or defence I think New York Red Bulls will struggle to hold on to the Supporters Shield that they picked up at the end of last season’s MLS campaign.
New England are really struggling to win matches at the moment, and I think New York Red Bulls’ victory could spur them on and kickstart their season. Odds of 4/7 for a New York Red Bulls Win or Draw Double chance look good value for money considering New England’s winless start, and I’m going for a 2-1 win for the visitors at 10/1 as well.
