New York Red Bulls vs Houston Dynamo Predictions

New York Red Bulls have started this season far below the expectations of many. They won the MLS Supporters Shield last season but have lost both of their MLS matches so far this season, with the most recent disappointment being a 3-0 thrashing by Montreal Impact, who came out after the break and netted three times to dispatch of their visitors. Toronto FC beat them 2-0 in New York in their opening game, meaning they come into this match with no points.

The fact they have conceded five goals in their opening two games speaks volumes of the importance of the New York Red Bulls star defenders last season. Damien Perrinelle is still out injured an Matt Miazga moved on in January, two problems that have left them very vulnerable at the back.

Houston Dynamo will be hoping to take advantage of that as well, and judging by their performance last week they may well do that. They hammered one of the favourites for the MLS this season, FC Dallas, 5-0 on Sunday thanks largely to four goals within the first half an hour.

This impressive result followed on from a 3-3 draw against New England in the opening game of the season, so it’s evident that Houston Dynamo are feeling very comfortable going forward.

All this points towards a game for the neutrals. New York Red Bulls’ defence looks very shaky at the moment and they will be coming up against a Houston Dynamo side filled to the brim with attacking confidence. But the visitors did concede three in their opening game, so the hosts’ attackers could get off the mark themselves on Saturday.

Odds of 3/4 for Over 2.5 Goals look very attractive indeed considering the start to the season both these teams have had. I’m backing a 2-2 correct score prediction at 14/1 as well.
