New York Red Bulls vs Sporting Kansas City Predictions
New York Red Bulls claimed the MLS Supporters Shield with their 60 point haul last season, but the loss of Matt Miazga to Chelsea and a few other contributions have led to their new campaign kicking off in completely the wrong way.
They lost 2-0 at home to Toronto FC in their opening game of the season and followed it up with a 3-0 defeat to Montreal Impact. They got their first win of the season in a 4-3 thriller against Houston Dynamo, but returned to losing ways with a 1-0 loss to Houston Dynamo last weekend.
Their star centre back pairing from last season are certainly being missed. As mentioned before, Matt Miazga left for Chelsea and his partner in crime Damien Perrinelle is still sidelined with a knee injury. This has already led to them conceding nine goals in their opening four games, and they have also seen two more centre backs join the injury list.
Sporting Kansas City finished last season down in 6th in the MLS Western Conference, but they have started the new season in much better shape than their title winning opponents.
They did lose 2-1 at home to Real Salt Lake last weekend, but prior to that they had won all of their first three outings of the season, with Seattle Sounders, Whitecaps, and Toronto FC all falling victim to them.
New York Red Bulls have already lost a home game this season, while Sporting Kansas City beat Seattle Sounders on the road to make it one defeat in their last four MLS games on the road. The visitors are in good shape at the moment and the back line of Red Bulls is decimated. I think odds of 5/6 for a Sporting Kansas City Win or Draw Double Chance are excellent value, and I’m going to back a 1-1 correct score prediction at 5/1.
