Norway vs Finland Predictions

Norway missed out on Euro 2016 due to a 3-1 play-off defeat to Hungary and they weren’t particularly inspiring last week either when they drew 0-0 in Estonia. Back in Oslo they’ll be hopeful of a first win since early October when they beat Malta at home having made a good start to the 2015-16 season with victories over Bulgaria and Croatia. That play-off defeat has hit them hard though it would seem and they are still waiting for Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Ødegaard to start developing into the player that could really help push this team to another level.

There is less expectancy on Finland given their undistinguished football history but their 5-0 defeat in Poland last week did little to improve the mood at Finnish football HQ. Poland are a better side than Norway though and this could be a good deal closer. The Finns also made a good start to the season taking maximum points from their September qualifiers against Greece and the Faroes with 1-0 wins in both matches. Draws in their final qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Romania weren’t enough to make the play-offs but at least showed that Finland might be heading in the right direction.

It is very hard to see there being many goals here. Both teams have scored in only 2 of Finland’s last 9 matches and there was also under 2.5 goals in 7 of the 9. Norway come in after a drab 0-0 draw in Estonia, their 3rd 0-0 draw in less than 12 months and both teams have scored in only 3 of their last 12 games. Therefore backing Under 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score – NO at 10/11 appears to make good sense here.
