Notts County vs Chorley Predictions

Whenever a side gets promoted it is always interesting to see if they can continue the momentum and quality from the previous campaign, or will they find that life at their new level is a bit tougher than what they might have expected. On Bank Holiday Monday we have an example of exactly that as newly promoted Chorley look to kick start their season against a Notts County side who have been through the ringer in recent years.

After a few years of upheaval and disappointing results, the message over the summer would have undoubtedly been for this campaign to be a fresh start and for Notts County to start climbing back up the leagues. However, things have not exactly gone to plan so far this season and the hosts go into this match having won just one of their opening six matches. With such a poor showing in the win column, it should come as no surprise to see that County are well down the division and although there is still plenty of time left in the season, their proximity to the danger zone will be a cause for concern for their supporters.

Making the trip to Meadow Lane is a Chorley side who may not be playing the best football in the division at the moment, but who will still be flying high from their promotion from the National League North last season. However, the visitors will be disappointed with their return so far and they know that the fact that they have the second worst offensive record with just four goals scored combined with the second worst defensive record in the division means that, unless things improve, their stay in the National League could be a short one.

The hosts may have had a few seasons of disarray but they will determined to reward their long suffering fans and, truth be told, they should be far too good for their visitors. Chorley have already proven to be vulnerable at the back and without major firepower at the other end of the pitch. With this in mind, backing a home win looks to be a pretty easy call to make.
