Olimpia vs Pumas UNAM Predictions
Pumas UNAM got their 2016 Libertadores campaign off to a flying start a fortnight ago. They were up within a minute thanks to an Ismael Sosa strike and went on to beat Emelec 4-2 in an entertaining game in Mexico City. They’ve drawn both league games since then and have only got 10 points to show from their opening 8 matches in Liga Mx so it hasn’t been a great start to their domestic campaign but they do come into this one unbeaten in 6 matches in all competitions.
As for Olimpia almost nothing has gone right this season. They find themselves bottom of the Paraguayan top flight with 4 points from 7 matches, which is simply unacceptable for a club that is the most decorated in Paraguay football history with 40 league titles. including the 2015 Clasura. They’ve lost their last 5 games in all competitions which includes a 2-1 win at Venezuela’s Deportivo Tachira in this competition.
This doesn’t look like a particularly strong group with no Brazilian or Argentine clubs in it and Pumas can take a giant leap towards the knock-out stage by taking advantage of their opponents poor form. Although Olimpia have been conceding too many, they have also been scoring goals and both teams have scored in 5 of their last 6 matches. Both teams have scored in 5 of the last 6 Pumas games too so backing both teams to score at 19/20 might be a smart bet here.
