Olympiakos vs Osmanlispor Predictions

Olympiakos managed to make it through their Europa League group stage despite losing their final group game 2-0 at APOEL. They ended up finishing 2nd behind APOEL, but ahead of Young Boys on head to head results and three points clear of bottom placed Astana.

That 2-0 defeat was a disappointing end to a relatively successful six games, but they haven’t let it hold them back since then. That was Olympiakos’ last defeat in any competition, and since then they have won ten and drawn four of their 14 outings, most recently beating Larissa 2-0 at home on Saturday. This has taken them a comfortable distance clear at the top of the Greek Super League, with the hosts leading Panionios by 13 points after 20 games played.

At home Olympiakos have an even more impressive record, winning 12 and drawing three of the 15 games since their last and only home defeat of the season. This too came against APOEL, so Olympiakos will be hoping that Osmanlispor don’t prove to have the same resilience as APOEL.

The visitors haven’t been showing much resilience recently though. Their 1-0 defeat at home to Trabzonspor on Saturday made it three wins, two draws, and six defeats in their last 11 outings in all competitions, to leave them 9th in the Turkish Super Lig with just 27 points from their 20 games.

In fairness to them they performed well above expectations in the Europa League group stages as they topped the group with ten points from their six games. This saw them lead Villarreal by a point and knock both Zurich and Steaua Bucharest out of the competition. Away from home they did lose two of their three group games 2-1 though, and in all competitions they have only won five of their last 14 trips away.

Olypiakos will be turning to star striker Brown Ideye on Thursday. The Nigerian forward has bagged 13 goals this season and eight of them have come in his ten home appearances, so he looks the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.

In terms of the overall result I can’t look beyond the hosts here. Osmanlispor are out of form at the moment and facing an Olympiakos side who have won ten of their last 15 home games by at least a two goal margin. They have kept a clean sheet in each of their last five home games too, so backing an Olympiakos -1.0 Asian Handicap at 2.150 looks good value, along with a 2-0 correct score predictions at 6/1.
