Pachuca vs Chivas Guadalajara Predictions
- Both teams have scored in 4 of Pachuca’s last 6 matches.
- Both teams have scored in 3 of Chivas Guadalajara’s last 4 Liga MX games.
- Chivas Guadalajara’s last 4 Liga MX away games have featured goals at both ends.
- The last 3 meetings between the two have seen goals at both ends and an average of 4.66 goals a game scored.
Pachuca gunning for home win
It’s fair to say a 2-1 defeat wasn’t what Pachuca were looking for in their opening match of the Clausura phase away at UNAM Pumas last weekend and said result leaves the side under some pressure in Sunday’s game. Indeed, having missed out on the play-offs by two points in the Apertura phase, the hosts are desperate for improvement in the coming months but cannot afford a slow start.
On paper, Pachuca have the quality needed to be a force at the top end of Liga MX but they remain a pretty inconsistent outfit. Scoring goals isn’t a problem for them but keeping them out certainly is, given they scored an average of 1.77 goals a game during the opening phase but also conceded an average of 1.44; a theme that continued in last weekend’s opening round.
Chivas looking to make it 2 from 2
Meanwhile, Chivas Guadalajara are another side looking to push for a play-off spot during the Clausura, having fell 2 points short in the Apertura phase. On paper, the visitors are a talented outfit that certainly have the potential to push for a top 8 finish and having kicked off the closing phase with a 2-0 win over Juarez last weekend, confidence is high coming into the game.
Nonetheless, just like Pachuca, Chivas are as poor an outfit defensively as they are strong going forwards. Over the opening phase they scored an impressive average of 1.55 goals a game but also conceded at exactly the same rate and it’s likely going to be their defensive showings that shape whether or not they will be successful in the coming months.
Goals are expected at both ends
Ultimately, Sunday’s game looks set to be an exciting one and we expect plenty of action at both ends. It’s simply not in either side’s nature to sit back and defend and both outfits will be hungry to use their attacking firepower to try and secure what would be an important set of 3 points.
All things considered, backing the Both Teams to Score line looks the only way to play as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re happy to do with maximum confidence. The last 3 meetings between the two have seen goals at both ends and an average of 4.66 goals a game scored and we fancy that theme to continue in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
