Palermo vs Atalanta Predictions
Palermo’s catastrophic season shows no signs of improving, with new coach Davide Ballardini overseeing a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Juventus on Sunday. Results elsewhere went against Palermo too and they are now three points from safety with only five games to go. Their form does not suggest they can get out of trouble either. Without a win in 12 Serie A matches, Palermo have been losing at both half-time and full-time in five of their last seven home matches. With so much chaos off the field at the club, it is hard to see Ballardini being able to coax enough positive results out of his side to stay up, with Atalanta able to hammer another nail into their coffin on Wednesday.
After a sloppy start against Roma on Sunday, Atalanta roared back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 and they can consider themselves unfortunate to be pegged back at 3-3 by the enduring brilliance of Francesco Totti in the end. It would have been a third win in four for Edoardo Reja’s side, who are seven points clear of the relegation places and could yet even finish in the top half of Serie A with a strong end to the season. Survival will be counted as success for Reja’s men, but they should not take their foot off the gas with a trip to Palermo representing another great chance to get a win on the board.
It is simply impossible to side with Palermo due to their atrocious form and bizarre leadership by president Maurizio Zamparini, who seems to change his coach more often than he changes his socks. Atalanta may think their job is done with safety virtually assured, but they should win this game and Atalanta to win at 7/4 with Betfair looks a great price. Atalanta to win 2-0 at 14/1 with Betfair is big too.
