Palestino vs Cerro Largo Predictions
- Both teams have scored in 5 of Palestino’s last 7 games.
- Palestino have scored an average of 1.83 goals a game over their last 6 home matches.
- Both teams have scored in 4 of Cerro Largo’s last 6 competitive matches.
- Cerro Largo have scored at least once in their last 6 away games.
Palestino looking to make home advantage count
Despite it being unlikely that they’ll make the group stage proper, Palestino did come into this Libertadores tie as slight favourites to progress and will still fancy their chances of doing exactly that. Indeed, having scored an away goal in a 1-1 first leg draw last week, the Chileans find themselves in a decent position coming into Wednesday’s game.
Having won their last 3 home games, Palestino are in good shape as hosts and that leaves confidence high coming into this clash. They’ve also scored an average of 1.83 goals a game over their last 6 home fixtures and if they can keep that kind of firepower up in this second leg; they should have enough to progress.
Cerro Largo looking to spring an upset
Meanwhile, whilst a draw wasn’t what they were looking for in the first leg, Cerro Largo were competitive in their first ever Libertadores outing and certainly aren’t out of the tie. Indeed, the Uruguayans showed that despite their small name they can compete with Palestino and though it’ll be a tough ask, they’ll be hungry to spring an upset on Chilean soil.
Having conceded an away goal, Cerro Largo simply have to bring an attacking game plan into Wednesday’s affair but typically strong from an attacking perspective when playing on the road, that won’t be an issue for the Uruguayans. Indeed, they’ve scored at least once in their last 6 outings on the road and will be confident of grabbing a crucial away goal on Wednesday.
An open game is expected
Ultimately, with the tie in the balance and a second round place on the line, we’re expecting an open and exciting game. Neither team sat back in the first leg and that’s likely to be the case here, with Palestino looking to assert their dominance on home soil and Cerro Largo forced into attacking due to conceding an away goal.
All things considered, backing the Both Teams to Score line looks the best way to play as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re more than happy to do. Both teams have scored in 5 of Palestino’s last 7 matches, as well as in 4 of Cerro Largo’s last 6 competitive fixtures and we fancy both themes to continue in a 2-1 home win. Cerro Largo should be competitive but we do see Palestino as being a bit too strong as hosts and think they’ll be able to edge the win.
