Pescara vs Fiorentina Predictions
Fiorentina suffered a setback at the weekend, as they slipped to a 3-3 draw at home to an out of form Genoa. That wasn’t great for their European ambitions, but most of the sides challenging for the top six slipped up. However, they can boost their chances of securing continental football next term, as they play their game in hand at relegation-threatened Pescara on Wednesday night. Can la Viola take three points at the bottom of the table side?
With five points separating Fiorentina and fifth placed Atalanta, a win here would put the visitors in the fight for Europe. All they need to do is become the latest side to claim three points against Pescara. Given that the hosts have averaged 0.4 points per game at their own ground, they’re clearly not much of a challenge. If the visitors are serious about claiming a top six finish, this is a game that they have to win.
Pescara come in to this game having failed to win in any of their last 20 matches, while their only win of the season came through a void result. They are yet to record anything more than a draw at their own ground, losing 60% of their outings here. The hosts have lost four of their last five at the Stadio Adriatico. Given that they’ve failed to score in 50% of their matches at this ground, they’re surely going to struggle against a high scoring Fiorentina.
La Viola average two goals per game away from home, and they’ve scored in 90% of their trips so far. Despite that impressive scoring record, the visitors aren’t in fantastic form on the road. They’ve won just 40% of matches on their travels, although their last away match was a 3-0 victory at Chievo.
With Pescara losing 12 of their last 14 matches in all competitions, this is an excellent chance for Fiorentina to improve their mixed form on the road. The hosts average just 0.6 goals per game at home, while they let in 1.9 goals in return. They’ve conceded a goal in 16 straight matches, which is far from good enough at this level. It’s easy to see why they’re bottom of the table, and that form is likely to continue.
We’re backing a win for the visitors, given how poor Pescara have been this season. Fiorentina haven’t lost any of their last four Serie A games, which have included meetings with Napoli and Juventus. This should be a much easier task for them, and we’re backing la Viola to boost their chances of a European finish, as we’re backing them to win at 8/11 with bet365.
