Peterborough vs AFC Wimbledon Predictions
AFC Wimbledon manager Wally Downes has been suspended by the League One club after he was charged by the Football Association over bets placed on games. The 58-year-old has been in charge of the Dons since December 2018 and has been charged by the FA for misconduct in respect of eight bets placed on matches between 30 November 2013 and 12 July 2019. However, football moves on quickly and this weekend the Dons make the trip to a Peterborough side who are looking in good form at the moment.
Peterborough United will be pleased with their progress in the early stages of the campaign, however, they will know that there is still plenty of room for improvement. The Posh may top the scoring charts with 20 goals in their nine matches, but they have a fairly poor record on home soil and they are currently nine points off the league leaders.
However, one thing that cannot be questioned is their ability in front of goal, and the man who leads the line for the hosts is Ivan Toney. The former Newcastle man has eight goals to his name so far this season and, although he failed to score last time out, he has four in his two matches prior to tha,t so looks like a good bet to find the back of the net once again this weekend.
It is not only off the field where AFC Wimbledon have had issues this season, as their form in the early stages of the campaign has left plenty to be desired and they have claimed just three points so far. The visitors feature poorly in both the defensive and offensive tables and they are yet to earn a single point on their five matches on the road.
Given that the hosts are pretty free scoring at the moment and the news is only bad for AFC Wimbledon, we cannot see anything other than a home win in this contest. In truth, not only do we expect a home win, but we think it could prove to be pretty decisive and although our main tip is for a Peterborough win, for those of you looking for an increased return, we think that adding the (-1) handicap is an excellent opportunity to boost the odds. In terms of a correct score tip, a 3-0 home win should be enough for the hosts to prove their dominance.
