Sochi looking to aid battle for survival with strong result
Coming into the season as a newly promoted outfit lacking the resources Russia’s big hitters possess it was always going to be a tough ask for Sochi to stay up. Currently in 14th with 21 points from 21 games, the side are in the relegation play-off slot and face a battle to the wire to stay in the top flight.
Nonetheless, having secured wins over Ural and Orenburg at home in their last two outings, Sochi’s position has improved significantly compared to how it was before and there’s a degree of momentum behind them. A game against a side of Krasnodar’s quality is a real test for the hosts but they’ll be confident in pushing them all the way.
Krasnodar hoping to keep title dream alive
Meanwhile, after finishing 3rd last term, Kranodar were expected to be there or thereabouts at the top come the end of the campaign and they are once again enjoying a strong season. Currently 2nd, they trail leaders Zenit by 6 points and will want to claim 3 points on Sunday to keep their small title hopes alive.
That being said, whilst they are close to unstoppable at home, dropping just 4 points there all campaign, Krasnodar are a bit more sketchy on the road and that’s a concern coming into this trip. Indeed, they’ve won just 2 of their last 5 away league matches and that’s a steak they simply have to improve upon if they want to run out champions.
Sochi to push Krasnodar all the way in an exciting game
Ultimately, we’re expecting an open and exciting game, with both sides pushing for the win. Sochi need 3 points for their battle for survival, whilst Krasnodar cannot afford to let Zenit go any further clear at the top of the table; creating a dynamic which forces both teams to attack.
All things considered, backing Both Teams to Score looks the best way to play as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re more than happy to do. Both teams have scored in 6 of Sochi’s last 7 league games, as well as in 7 of Krasnodar’s last 10 in league action and we fancy both themes to continue in a 1-1 draw. Krasnodar are a better team than the hosts but Sochi are arriving off the back of some good results and look capable of taking something from the game.
