Poland vs Finland Predictions

The Poles hosted Serbia on Wednesday night securing a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Jakub Blaszcyzkowski. This is widely considered to be the best Polish side since the 1980’s and hopes are high that they can at least reach the knock-out stages this summer in France. They qualified ahead of the Republic of Ireland and Scotland in a tough group that also included World Champions Germany, who Poland beat in Warsaw. They are unbeaten in 11 home matches and have won all of the last 5 scoring 18 times in the process although 8 of them did come against Gibraltar.

Finnish football has known marginally better times than this and they never really looked like making the finals. They suffered 4 consecutive defeats during the middle of their campaign so a win in Greece and draw in Romania later on in the campaign did little to enhance their prospects. Those results should stand as a warning to Poland though that this won’t be easy.

The Finns don’t score many goals though. They failed to net in January friendlies against Sweden and Iceland although all the sides involved left many foreign-based players out. They haven’t scored more than once in any of their last 14 matches and against a Poland side that shut out Serbia in midweek they may find chances hard to come by. Therefore consider backing Poland to win to nil at 11/10, which would complete a good week for them as they continue their Euro 2016 preparations.
