PSG vs Amiens Predictions

• Top of Ligue 1 by eight points with a game in hand and having won their Champions League group, all is going to plan for PSG so far this season.
• Having scored an average of 2.29 goals a game in Ligue 1 and conceded just nine times, the hosts are proving dominant domestically once again.
• Meanwhile, Amiens are not enjoying such a good campaign, positioned 17th, with just 17 points from as many games.
• The visitors have taken just one point from their last five league matches and have conceded an average of three goals a game over said fixtures. 

PSG looking to maintain form

It’s fair to say PSG’s season is going exactly to plan and the side have been impressive across all fronts. In Ligue 1, they are well on course to retain their title and already have an eight-point lead at the top with a game in hand; they’re also into the quarter-finals of the French League Cup and, most impressively, they dropped just two points in the process of winning their Champions League group.

Unbeaten in nine matches, of which they’ve won all bar a 2-2 draw at Real Madrid, PSG come into Saturday’s game supremely confident and will be hungry to keep their strong form going. Having beaten Amiens by 3-0 and 5-0 margins respectively last season, it’s fair to say this isn’t a fixture the hosts are expecting to have many issues in.

The visitors don’t arrive in great shape

Meanwhile, after a 15th-place finish last season, Amiens weren’t expected to pull up many trees this campaign and they certainly haven’t in the action we’ve seen so far. Indeed, currently 17th with 17 points from as many games, the visitors look set for a battle against the drop into Ligue 2.

Amiens’ recent form is a real cause for concern and confidence simply cannot be high coming into this daunting trip to the capital. The side have taken just one point from their last five Ligue 1 matches and, having conceded an average of three goals a game in doing so, it’s hard to see them standing up to the task in this one.

An easy PSG win expected

Ultimately, we’re expecting Saturday’s game to be completely one-sided in nature and it’s not a match PSG should find difficult to win. They outclassed Amiens twice last season and, given the shape both sides arrive in, you really do have to fear for the visitors on what could turn into a very long night for them.

All things considered, we fancy PSG to win and to win big. As such, backing them on a -3 handicap appeals as far as the betting is concerned. PSG are scoring goals for fun, Amiens can’t keep them out against far weaker opponents than the champions and we think PSG could well run out 5-0 winners. This would be a repeat of the scoreline from this exact fixture last campaign.
