PSV Reserves vs FC Oss Predictions

After eight victories and just two defeats from their last 15 league matches. Jong PSV are comfortably emerging as the best reserve outfit in Eerste Divisie this season, and Dennis Haar’s charges have the chance to move up to 5th in the table when they host Oss at De Herdgang on Monday evening. With the visitors struggling of late and still in search of their first win in 2019, the hosts look worthy favourites here to trouser another three points.

PSV Eindhoven are currently storming Eredivisie with a five point lead over arch-rivals Ajax, so it’s perhaps no surprise that their quality is showing further down their ranks in the Dutch second tier.

Similarly, PSV’s reserves hold a sizeable four point advantage over Jong Ajax with this Monday’s game in hand to come, and they’ve easily been the most impressive and consistent Jong outfit in Eerste Divisie this term.

A cosy 1-3 success at Dordrecht last week extended Jong’s unbeaten run to five, and maintained their blistering form in front of goal which has been key to their surge up the table in recent weeks. Dennis Haar’s side have struck 51 times in all this season at a rate of 2.32 goals per game – and that’s the best record in the second tier.

A win over Oss this Monday night will take them up to 5th in the standings following Roda JC’s surprising 1-2 defeat at home to Almere City on Friday evening, and Jong will be hoping to replicate their 5-1 demolition of TOP at De Herdgang in last season’s corresponding fixture.

Oss will be feeling nervous and fairly low on confidence heading into this fixture as their form has nosedived over the last few weeks.

Klaas Wels’ men went some way towards stopping the rot with a scrappy 1-1 draw at home to NEC on match day 22, but they’re yet to taste success in the New Year following back to back reversals against RKC (1-2) and Den Bosch.

And with just one win on their last seven overall which came against strugglers Dordrecht before the Christmas break (0-1) Oss have slipped down to 7th having initially threatened to challenge for automatic promotion this season.

They’re now only two points clear of the teams placed 10th or below so the pressure will really be on TOP in the coming weeks if they leave Eindhoven empty handed here. That said, Oss can look forward to an easier run of fixtures with games against the likes of Telstar and Jong Utrecht upcoming.

Oss will take heart from the 4-1 beating they dished out to Jong PSV at Frans Heesen Stadion towards the start of the campaign, but we’re not reading too much into that ahead of this contest, as it’s clear that the hosts are a different proposition now they’ve got their act together.

With the form and results of these two sides seemingly moving in completely opposite direction, we can only support a Jong victory this Monday night and they’re an attractive price at a touch of odds-on.

We doubt this will be quite so one sided as the last couple of encounters between the teams, but Jong should ultimately have too much for TOP and we’re opting for a 3-1 correct score alongside our main match bet.
