PSV vs ADO Den Haag Predictions

PSV were incredibly close to winning the Eredivisie last season, finishing only three points shy of Ajax in a tight title race. They are pushing again this season, hoping to recapture their form and capitalise on major changes to their bitter rivals. Their hopes were dealt a blow in their season opener, as they drew 1-1 with Twente to make a shaky start to the campaign. Now they return home to face ADO Den Haag, but will the hosts be able to live up to their favourites tag, or could we see them drop more points?

PSV are widely backed to come away with a result here, which is hardly surprising given how they performed last term. The Eindhoven outfit were able to win 16 of their 17 home matches, with a fine scoring record ensuring it was a great campaign for the home support. They come into this game with a five-game winning streak behind them at home, but will they be able to add to that on Sunday?

ADO were ablet o move into the top half of the Eredivisie last term, but just staying at that level is going to be tough. They’ve already suffered their first loss of the season, shipping four goals to Utrecht a week ago. This isn’t the easiest of starts for ADO, which has seen them priced up as major outsiders for this encounter. That’s hardly a surprise, given that last season was a real struggle for them when they met the top sides.

Both Ajax and PSV breezed past ADO across their meetings last term. The champions hit 10 goals between their two games, while PSV won 7-0 in Den Haag to bring their tally against them for the season up to 10 as well. We expect another big result for the hosts, especially given their fantastic form at home. Last term they were able to score 58 times in their home matches, which works out at 3.4 goals per game. Not only that, but they had a strongest defensive record, marking out the Philips Stadion as a difficult place to visit.

PSV have scored 20 times across their last six meetings with ADO, while they recorded plenty of big wins at home. They were able to secure a victory by three or more goals in nine of their 16 home wins. Judging by their loss to Utrecht, the visitors are vulnerable to another heavy defeat this weekend. That has us looking at PSV to win this clash with a -2 handicap. Given the results between them and their recent Eredivisie records, we are confident that PSV can win this one by three goals or more.
