QPR vs Charlton Predictions
This is clearly a more important game for Charlton than the hosts. The Addicks have found a bit of form and have taken 11 points from their last 6 league games, which has been a badly needed boost. The problem though is that it may turn out to be too little too late as far as their Championship future goes. Sides above them like Rotherham, Bristol City and Fulham have also been getting a results and Charlton are 7 points from safety with only 6 to play so their situation is still dire and they are at the point where draws don’t really do anything to help their cause.
This isn’t a particularly fiercely contested London derby and QPR have little to play for but will want to end the season well to carry some momentum into next season when they will want to properly compete for promotion. They’ve only lost 3 of their last 15 games but have been drawing too many and have only picked up 2 points from their last 3 although they weren’t easy matches. They’d won 3 in a row at Loftus Road prior to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of 2nd placed Middlesbrough last time out.
They have scored 2 or more goals in all of their last 4 home games and the fact that Charlton will have to come out and try and win this may help them out here. The Addicks have the 2nd worst defensive record in the league having let in 70 goals in 40 games so far and that will encourage QPR’s attacking players and they are capable of taking advantage of any holes in the Charlton defence that all too often appear. For those reasons backing QPR to score over 1.5 goals at 5/6 looks like a decent shout in this one.
