Queen Of The South vs Rangers Predictions
Queen of the South have made a very good start to their Scottish Championship season, and will be hoping they can continue their good run of form and make another push for promotion after finishing 4th last season.
They have won all 3 of their opening league games, with Alloa Athletic, Livingston, and Dumbarton all falling victim to them. This puts them 2nd in the table, trailing Championship leaders Rangers on goal difference.
But they will now be desperate to make a good run at the Championship this season after suffering back to back cup exits within 2 weeks.
They were first knocked out of the Scottish Challenge Cup after losing 1-0 to Livingston after extra time, just 3 days after beating them 1-0 in the league.
Then, on the Tuesday just past, Greenock Morton got the better of them with a 1-0 win in the Scottish League Cup.
Both of these cup defeats were on home turf, which makes it 2 losses from their 4 home games this season. At the moment, it’s not much to be concerned about, but it could soon become a problem.
Rangers haven’t exited any of the cups yet. They beat Airdrieonians 5-0 in midweek to progress in the League Cup and strolled to a 2-0 win over Ayr United last week in the Challenge Cup.
This, coupled with their 3 straight league victories, makes it a very promising start for the Glasgow giants, who will be desperate to make their long awaited return to the top flight this season after their failed playoff campaign last season.
Things have been very tight between these sides in recent years. Rangers overcame them in the playoffs at the end of last season, drawing the home leg but winning when they visited Queen of the South.
Before the playoffs, Queen of the South took 7 points from Rangers in their 4 league games, with Rangers picking up 4 points.
The bookies are favouring Rangers massively for this game, and we’re not too sure why to be honest. They have both had good starts to the league campaign and the history between them is relatively even.
Rangers have a decent chance of getting a result, but odds of 13/8 for a Queen of the South Win or Draw Double Chance are just too good to pass on. If you’re feeling a little more risky, 6/1 odds for a home win are also very valuable.
