Rangers vs Greenock Morton Betting Tips & Predictions

Rangers don’t look like they’ll have to go through the heartbreak of a promotion playoff this season. They are sitting pretty at the top of the Scottish Championship and hold a 12 point advantage over their nearest rivals Falkirk. They also have a game in hand over the second placed side.

You can’t argue that they don’t deserve this lead either. They haven’t lost since the middle of December and have won 12 of their 14 matches in all competitions since then. They are also still in the running for the Scottish FA Cup after dispatching of top flight side Dundee on Saturday with a comprehensive 4-0 win over them.

At home Rangers have only lost once all season, a Scottish League Cup defeat to St Johnstone back in September. In the Championship, they have dropped just two points all season at home after winning 13 of their 14 matches.

They have scored a huge 39 goals during these 14 matches at the Ibrox and conceded just eight at the other end. This contributed greatly towards their status as the Championship’s best attackers and defenders this season.

Greenock Morton aren’t having a bad season either, relatively speaking. They have managed to avoid the relegation battle so far, with their 32 points putting them in 6th position and eight points clear of the relegation playoff position.

However, they have lost two of their last three away days and only won one of their last five on the road. This makes a Rangers win look all the more likely, and I expect Rangers’ excellent defence to show up again on Friday. They have kept five clean sheets on the bounce at the Ibrox whilst Greenock Morton have failed to score in their last two away days.

This makes odds of 4/5 for Rangers to Win to Nil look very good value for money, so I’m going for that along with a 3-0 correct score prediction at 6/1.
