Rayo Vallecano vs Eibar Betting Tips and Predictions 

These are reported to be the two clubs with the lowest budgets in La Liga. Rayo Vallecano have competed well for several years under Paco Jemez but are having a tough time of it this year and an injury crisis isn’t helping their fight to beat the drop. They were beaten 2-1 at Espanyol on Monday despite a stunning strike from former Man United winger Bebe and were hammered 5-1 at home by Barcelona in their previous game. They had though gone 7 games without defeat prior to that and have been boosted by the return of top scorer Javi Guerra.

They are certainly in better form than Eibar who have lost 7 of their last 8 matches and all of their last 5 on the road. Despite that they remain in 8th place on 36 points, just 1 place outside the likely European positions so it has still been a great season for them but it seems they are over their purple patch.

Rayo’s need for points is certainly greater and they will view this as one of their ‘must win’ games in the battle to beat the drop given they still have several tough fixtures left. There are likely to be goals here given Eibar have the 5th best goalscoring record in the league and Rayo are the top scorers outside the top 8 but also have the worst defensive record. Despite their recent defeats, they are improving having taken some time to bed in their summer arrivals. With Eibar in poor form and having lost 8 of their last 9 on the road, backing Rayo Vallecano to win at 6/5 certainly appeals.
