This promises to be a good game between two footballing sides that are hopeful of mounting promotion challenges this season. Of the two, it’s Reading that look the more likely right now and much of the credit must go to Jaap Stam who has re-vitalised this side. While the Royals come into this match in their best form of the season, the visitors do so on their first real sticky patch. Bristol City have lost 5 of their last 7 games in all competitions and their only win in that period was at home to struggling Blackburn. The goals have dried up a touch for early season top scorer Tammy Abraham and they’ve been struggling to keep them out at the other end too, with only one away clean sheet so far and they’ve let in at least one goal in 82% of their fixtures overall.

Reading by contrast have been much more solid, keeping clean sheets in 47% of their fixtures this term and over half of their home games. They’ve been looking more and more dangerous at the other end too so they should have too much for the Robins here, and backing Reading to win at 11/8 looks to offer great value here. The recent head-to-head also strongly backs that up.
